Jervis Bay Shark Week Snorkeling Tours | Jervis Bay | Monday, 30. September 2019

Join professional snorkel leaders and marine biologists on a guided snorkelling adventure where you will come **** to **** with Port Jackson sharks in the Jervis Bay Marine Park.  Port Jackson sharks are a small species of shark that are relatively harmless to humans. They form large breeding aggregations on the shallow reefs around Jervis Bay from June to November, giving us a wonderful opportunity to get up close and personal with these charismatic animals.
Our snorkelling guides will take you on a tour of one of these breeding aggregation sites where you will have the opportunity to see large numbers of sharks and an amazing variety of fish and plant life that call Jervis Bay home. If you are lucky, you may even get to observe Port Jackson sharks mating or females giving birth (a very rare sight indeed)! Each snorkelling tour will last for approximately 45 minutes, which will give you ample opportunity to observe these gentle creatures in their natural environment, as well as get your photos taken snorkelling in the beautiful waters of Jervis Bay.
These snorkel events are proudly sponsored by Crest Diving, a local dive business that has been in operation for over 10 years and has been involved with many studies on the Port Jackson sharks and other marine life of Jervis Bay.

What is included in the price of the ticket?
- A guided snorkelling encounter with the Port Jackson sharks of Jervis Bay.
- Hire of snorkelling gear (mask and snorkel, fins and a wetsuit)
- A complimentary photograph of your group

Can I bring my own snorkelling gear?
If you have your own snorkelling gear or a wetsuit, we highly recommend that you bring that with you and use it for the snorkel. If you don't have your own snorkelling gear, equipment hire is included in the price of the ticket.

Can I bring my own GoPro or waterproof camera?
We would encourage you to bring along your own GoPros and waterproof cameras to the snorkel event so that you are able to capture your own photos and footage of your Port Jackson shark encounter. We will also have an in-water photographer/videographer to document each groups experience.

Who can participate?
Jervis Bay Shark Week snorkel tours are suitable for adults and children over 12 years of age who are good swimmers and confident in the water. Children between the ages of 12 - 16 years old must be accompanied in the water by a parent/***** at a 2:1 ratio (2 children to 1 parent/*****).

Where are the snorkelling tours taking place?
We plan on conducting the snorkelling tours at Orion Beach in Vincentia. However, poor weather (wind and swell) and poor visibility on the day may mean that we have to snorkel at another location. Any changes to the location will be posted on our Facebook page on the morning of our events and a message will be sent to you to confirm the location.

When should I arrive?
We ask that you arrive 30 minutes prior to your snorkelling session so that you are able to complete the necessary paperwork and be fitted with your snorkelling gear.

Refund policy
In the event that the weather is unsafe to snorkel in (as determined by Sue Newson from Crest Diving), the snorkelling tour will be cancelled and participants will be offered a ticket on a different day (where possible) or a full refund of their ticket (excluding Eventbrite’s processing fees).
