Mental illness affects at least 20% of the Australian population each and every year. Stigmas around mental illness are gradually being broken down and those experiencing various forms of mental health problems are receiving more and more help through increased awareness and training of the general public in standard Mental Health First Aid. This course is incredibly powerful and can and does indeed save lives. Anxiety, depression and attempted suicides are significantly higher in females than males in Australia year on year (though more males go on to complete *******). In a female dominated workplace, mental health first aid skills are crucial for keeping our club members and fellow staff safe and healthy.
Mental Health First Aid for the Workplace for Fernwood staff will be delivered as a blended course, consisting of:
8 hours of online / e-learning componentsHalf day (10am – 3pm) live training run by Emma Robertson.
NB: 8-10 days prior to the live training, you will receive a voucher code and a link to access the online eLearning component at MHFA Australia. This MSUST be completed prior to attending the live day.
This course will provide participants with a Mental Health First Aid (in the workplace) certificate issued by Mental Health First Aid Australia and will teach how to be a proficient Mental Health First Aiders in providing initial support to adults (members and fellow staff members) who are developing a mental illness or experiencing a mental health crisis.
Topics covered include: Mental illness in Australia, Depression, Anxiety, *******, Psychosis and Substance Use Disorder.
