Study Tour: Comparative Law in China Interviews | Room 1.08, Ligertwood Building | Wednesday, 01. August 2018

Congratulations, you have progressed to the Interview Stage for the Study Tour: From West to East - Comparative Law in China. 
Please book in one of the 15 minute interview times and include your Student ID number in the booking. Please do not be late for your interview.

Tour Information:
This study tour is designed to provide students with an introduction to the complexity of Chinese law, an understanding of the Chinese Legal system, and a deeper understanding of Australian law in comparative and international perspective. The full program consists of two preparatory seminars held at the University of Adelaide followed by 11 days of study and cultural activities hosted by KoGuan Law School, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Students will have the opportunity to attend classes in English taught by both University of Adelaide lecturers and KoGuan Law School Academics, as well as visit a leading Chinese Law Firm, the Shanghai Arbitration Commission and the Minhang District Court. The Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, the most important arbitration commission in the Asia-Pacific region, will host a “Global Lawyers in Shanghai” workshop. Three Shanghai-based international lawyers will share their experiences with students about practising law in the Chinese legal market.
Further to the study tour, 10 selected students will also conduct a 4 week internship at River Delta Law Firm in Lujia Zui, Shanghai’s Financial Centre. If selected for the internship, eligible students will receive AUD$3,000 in New Colombo Plan (NCP) grant funding. 

If selected for the internship program, the study tour and internship will run from 18 November to 27 December (internship program is 4 weeks in duration). 
The program fee for the study tour is expected to be AUD$4,000. Follow the link for the program fee cost program fee includes accommodation, flights, ground transport, cultural visits, some meals and staffing.
Please note that the usual University of Adelaide tuition costs also apply for the enrolled course LAW 3538 - International Law Study Tour.
Additional costs of up to AUD$2,600 are expected for participation in the internship program. A breakdown of these costs is available at the bottom of the budget sheet for the study tour program.
Financial Assistance: 
Thanks to the Global Learning Travel Grant students completing this study tour will each receive AUD$500 from the University of may be eligible for up to AUD$7,998 in OS-HELP  students who are selected for the internship component of the program will receive a grant of AUD$3,000 through the NCP towards their costs. Only 10 NCP grants will be travel insurance is provided free of charge by the University of Adelaide for students receiving credit for this program.
Academic Credit: 
Students will receive 3 units of credit upon successful completion of this study tour.

Eligibility and Selection: 
This program is only available to students studying the Bachelors of Law degree program. Eligible students must have completed 24 units of Law, and have 3 units of elective space in their program. Students may be required to interview prior to is no minimum GPA requirement for this tour however a candidates GPA will be considered when will be enrolled in the course,LAW 3538 - International Law Study Tour, by the Faculty once accepted into the program.
Students wishing to be considered for the NCP grant and the internship at River Delta Law Firm should indicate this in their application at question 5 of the Questionnaire – “Study Tours: About You?”, when completing their application in GLAS.
Students should also provide information that supports their application for the internship and NCP grant in this section.
