Twilight Flames: glass blowing by a Venetian master | Leura Park Estate | Saturday, 17. February 2018

Internationally renowned Venetian master glass blower Mauro Vianello will light up his torch at Leura Park Estate to blow pieces of spectacular glass art inspired by the Ocean, though Mauro says, 'There is nothing I haven't made in glass over the 20 years I have been working with it'.

Mauro lives and works on the island of Murano (Venice, Italy), which has been famed for centuries for its glass art. As he creates his beautiful glass art, Mauro share stories about Murano, its history and its reputation. There will be a commentary by a local glass artist explaining what Mauro is doing with lots of opportunities to ask questions as he sculpts the glass. Two large screens will show his torch work and glass sculpting close-up.

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet a talented and charming glass master and watch him work, while enjoying wonderful food and wine from the Bellarine Peninsula.

One of his unique and highly collectable coral reef fish sculptures will be the major prize in a limited ticket raffle

"Twilight Flames" is part of the annual Festival of Glass, held in the Drysdale area during February. The next day (Sunday 18th February 2018) sees the Festival of Glass Expo at Christian College, Drysdale, featuring displays by 40+ glass artists and craftspeople, demonstrations of glass working techniques, the Glass Art Awards and much more.
