#Chemostyle Winter Hat Workshop 3 | GJ's Discount Fabrics | Saturday, 24. August 2019

Winter is upon us, and people experiencing hair loss through medical treatment are needing cosy winter hats. Not every occasion calls for a beanie, and we have some new berets and cosy cap styles that will help people to feel a bit more stylish through cold weather.

As part of the development of a new social enterprise to support cancer patients, I'm test-running another workshop with some new hat patterns, based on the hats that I made for myself during my cancer treatment. If you can donate some of your time, we can make hats to donate to people who need them and have a fun day doing something good.
If you're going through treatment that causes hair loss, or if you have a particular person or cancer centre in mind, you're very welcome to come and make hats for yourself or your cause. All remaining hats will be distributed for free through cancer hospitals and support networks around Australia.
If you are a confident cutter (preferably with a rotary cutter), we need you as much as we need people who can use a sewing machine or overlocker!
Unfortunately this is not an opportunity to learn to sew, if you don't already have some basic sewing skills. We need people who can work with minimal guidance.
BYO sewing machine/overlocker. If you have any hat-sized offcuts of cosy knit fabrics - ponte, velour, fleece, loopback or other winter-weight knit - that you'd like to donate, please bring them along.
BYO lunch or bring a small plate to share. Tea and Coffee (and some snacks) provided.
