RDKit/Python training at the 8th RDKit UGM 2019 | University of Hamburg | Friday, 27. September 2019

This workshop will be run on Friday after the main RDKit UGM (the same day as the hackathon).
The workshop is free, but has a limited number of slots available (it's really hard to do a good interactive workshop with too many attendees!). In order to try and manage the capacity problem, we are doing *all* registrations via waiting list. Please sign up by putting yourself on the waiting list; we will let you know ASAP when we have the actual attendees assigned.

Getting started with the RDKit and the Python ecosystem
Instructor: Andrew Dalke
It can be a bit overwhelming trying to figure out how to get started with Python for cheminformatics. In this one day course we'll cover the basics of programming in Python, using the Jupyter notebook environment and the RDKit toolkit. The goal is to get you on a sound footing, and oriented so you know where to go to find more information. During the day you'll also get hands-on experience with some of the popular Python packages, including Pandas for data analysis and scikit-learn for machine learning, and learn how to install packages. This course is meant for people who are familiar with the command-line shell and who have some programming experience, that is, people who know about variables, for-loops, if-statements, and functions. You will need to bring your own computer, with Python 3.6 or later already installed. We will provide instructions and some support by email to help you get things set up.
