15. March 2019 - 13:00 till 15:00
PGR week: Research Cafe | Taylor Room, 1st Floor Sydney Jones Library | Friday, 15. March 2019
A University of Liverpool Research Café will take place on Friday 15th March during the Liverpool Doctoral College Postgraduate Researcher week – meet researchers from outside your area of expertise to share ideas over a light lunch and refreshments.
The aim of Research Cafés is to provide an opportunity for PhD students, early career researchers and established academics to network and build understanding in a relaxed, informal environment over a cuppa and a **** to eat. Based around the concept of Café Scientifique, Research Cafés work to foster connections between disciplines and create new and more diverse research networks.
Each café will typically feature around 3 researchers from across the university, who will describe aspects of their research in a manner that is easily accessible to people from outside of their discipline. After this, we will have time for refreshments and networking.
It’s a great opportunity to meet researchers from outside your department and to develop the confidence and ability to speak about your research to people outside of your discipline – a key skill for researchers!
Facilitator: Sarah Roughly, Scholarly Communications Librarian
