Chancellor's Day PD: Advice and Assistance in the Progressive Era | Museum at Eldridge Street | Monday, 27. January 2020

HS Conference Day workshop for teacher Professional Development

As millions of immigrants arrived to the Lower East Side at the turn of the 20th century, they found themselves in an unfamiliar landscape filled with new challenges and questions about how to live, work, love, and fit in. Neighborhood institutions offered an array of social services, advice, and communal support to newcomers navigating the nuances of American life. Join us at the original headquarters of Henry Street Settlement to learn about groundbreaking social reforms during the Progressive Era. We will spend the afternoon touring the majestic Museum at Eldridge Street for a tour and hands-on exploration of an historical immigrant advice column, A Bintel Brief.
Recommended for high school social studies and humanities teachers. Ticket includes light breakfast and lunch.
