Perform International is pleased to present a FREE concert by the Upland High School Choir (California, USA) in Palestrina on June 21st!
This will be the first stop on the choir's 2019 performance tour of Italy.
Under the direction of Choral Director Roger Estrada, Upland's concert repertoire includes music by William Byrd, Aaron Copland, Michael Praetorius, Peter Phillips, and many others.
More about the Choir and the Choral Director:
Roger Estrada is in his 15th year as the Director of the Upland High School Choral Music Department and responsible for over 200 choral students consisting of: Aria - an all-women's auditioned choir; the Men's Ensemble - an intro choir for men; Chorale - an advanced mixed choir; the Madrigals - an elite mixed Chamber Ensemble; and Expressions - an advanced 16-member vocal jazz group. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from California State University of Fullerton in 1998 and his Master’s Degree from Colorado State University in 2011 with his primary focus on conducting.
Under the direction of Mr. Estrada, choir students have performed during mass at St. Mark's Basilica and sang in the canals of Venice from gondolas. Recently, the Upland High School choirs joined a spectacular Major Works performance at Carnegie Hall in New York. Closer to home in California, Mr. Estrada has led the choirs on a Northern California tour in the San Luis Obispo area, where they performed at places such as Hearst Castle in San Simeon and at the Santa Barbara Mission. He and his students have participated in local adjudicated festivals, workshops, parades, community events, sports openings, graduations, and even Barbershop venues, in addition to their featured concerts throughout the year. Mr. Estrada has also carried on the 29-year tradition of the school's Elizabethan Dinners where the vocal performances of all choirs are showcased in a dinner/theater setting.
