What is it like to have dementia? Virtual Dementia Experience - Parkville- VIC | Dementia Australia | Tuesday, 22. October 2019

This two hour program aims to give participants an immersive experience in the interactive Dementia Learning Centre at our Parkville location. This experience will assist family members to understand what aspects of the environment and communication may be helpful or unhelpful to the person living with dementia.
By experiencing some aspects of the impacts of dementia participants will have;


The opportunity to “walk in the shoes” of a person living with dementia


An increased understanding of what it may be like to live with dementia


Time to reflect on the impact of effective communication when supporting people living with dementia


Resources made available to consider enhancements to the environment for people living with dementia


Suitable for: Family carers who want to improve their understanding of what it can be like to live with dementia
This program is not suitable for professionals employed in the health or aged care sectors.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Dementia Australia Carparking is available in car park 1, located on Oak Street around 10 meters from the entrance to the office   – look for the raised boom gate
 Public transport
Tram: No 55 Royal Park to Poplar Road, then a 13 min walk west along Poplar Road
Train: Royal Park Railway Station (Upfield Line) then a 13 min walk west along Poplar Road

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
It is ideal if you can bring your ticket. However, if you have completed your registration we will have your details and forgetting your ticket won’t be a problem.
