Whether your after a challenge some extra pre-season fitness or your a more established runner who wants the competition of racing. Here's some of my tips for short course racing. * Choose a few "Fun Runs" within the calendar year & commit to signing up. * Choose a distance that best suits you, that's going to challenge you not defeat you. * Start some consistent running training within your week ( 2-4 times weekly ) to build up and improve your fitness. * To stay motivated find a running partner or join a running group * Always have goals, when you have achieve them set new ones - this drives motivation * Always warm up pre run and cool down post run. * If the body is feeling stiff or sore after running stretch out the muscles (using a roller helps) * If the body is overly sore or your feeling fatigued don't hesitate to give yourself a rest day, this will help prevent injuries * Leading up to the event, good nutrition and plenty of fluids * The day of event arrive early warm up stretch and most of all enjoy the atmosphere - be your best. * Good luck

  • Here are some running tips from our current no.1 seeded female runner Rochelle Rodgers. Rochelle will be competing in the half marathon. Achievements: 2.44.27 Tokyo Marathon 2017 which resulted in a World Championship B qualifying time, 2 x Perth Marathon and City to Surf 1/2 marathon winner. Club: Front Runner Sports Tips: For runners and first timers: Set yourself and achievable goal or sign up for a local event. Find and appropriate training plan that fits your lifestyles and fitness level and stick to it, don't try and do extra or change it as this can sometimes lead to disappointment. Sticking to a plan will allow you to build up with structure and stop you from doing to much to soon. Enjoy your running experience by joining a running group or finding others with similar goals, running with a group will help to motivate you and keep you on track. Thanks for the great advice Rochelle :)
