Holly O’Meehan’s exhibition, Elusive Tactility, loops together the physicality of crochet and ceramic to question the balance between art, craft, and design. Her functionless vessels ask more questions than they answer in a playful dialectic between form and lack of function. Organic in their bodies, her creations reflect the structure of flora in her world, pieces of which she gathers in her daily journeys.

About the artist: While growing up on a farm in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, Holly spent her childhood sifting through her mother’s craft studio. Now based in Fremantle, Holly’s current art practice explores the gentle honesty of the hand made as well as examining the stereotypes of Craft versus Art in contemporary society.

Holly O’Meehan graduated in 2013 with a BA in Fine Art and Art & Design from Curtin University, Perth. She has since developed her own art practice, exhibiting work in several group shows, art awards and participating in several residences across Western Australia and India. Holly O'Meehan
