International Pirate Summer Camp 2020 | Piotrowice Nyskie | Saturday, 18. July 2020
We are happy to announce the fifth Pirate Summer event to be held 2020 at the end of July in Piotrowice Nyskie, Poland. It is the opportuninty for individual pirates to spend some vacations together, to get know each other better and to foster international cooperation.
Everybody is welcome to contribute their content to the Pirate Summer - be it a workshop, a session, a lecture, a hackathon, a music jam or anything else that could be relevant to pirates, or is just fun (how about offering a hike along the Czech-Polish border, or a tournament of MtG?)
The location of the camp is the same as in the last years - an old palace from the twelvth century, that was bought some years ago by a family that is restoring it to its former shape since then. Overall there are 5 hectar grounds with multiple buildings, barns, a big number of large rooms for meetings, a pond (what is left from the medivial moat), farm animals, dogs, cats - in total 250 pirates can fit in. There are rooms in the palace and adjuscent buildings for up to 25 people, possibility to camp in a tent (indoors or outdoors), or shared dormitory rooms in the former storage buildings.
We will offer half board catering and also child care (if enough families with children will join us), so that we can have a vacation together and you should bring your family with you.
What: "Pirate Summer" vacation
When: July 18th - July 26th 2020
Where: Piotrowice Nyskie, Poland
You can see the photos of this place on its facebook page:
and on official site: http://piotrowicenyskie.com/ (but it is hopelessly outdated)
Here are the costs for the tickets:
A room in the palace: 35 Euro per day including catering (280 Euro for the whole 8 nights)
Tent / dormitory: 18 Euro per day including catering (144 Euro for the whole 8 nights)
under 3 years old: free
under 12 years old: EUR 10,- per day
between 12 and 18: EUR 13,- per day
The price above include the camp fee of 7,50€ per day.
If there will be more then 10 children registered for the event, we will organize a care person / kids animation for no additional charge, so that the adults would have more time to hang out busy with "***** stuff" or be kids again unobserved.
If more then 50/100/200 persons will register in total, we will drop the prices for everyone.
It is allright to come to only for a part of the summer camp, but the rooms in the palace are given with the preference to the people who are coming for the whole time. You can pay in cash when you arrive at the pirate summer camp.
If you prefer to stay somewhere else, or visit the camp only as a day guest, you still need to pay the camp fee of 7,50€ per day.
Q: Is there any fears of zombie attack?
A: Quite possibly. As this event takes place in August and the future is uncertain, we will have specifically designated shelter areas and also runners. You will be randomly paired with someone who you should hope is a slower runner than you are.
Q: I am not a Member of a Pirate Party, can I still come?
A: Sure. If you can imagine spending your vacation with people who are, you are welcome.
Q: Is there Internet?
A: Is this a kind of a philosofical question? There is WiFi in parts of the main building. One of our projects that we have conducted during the first Pirate Summer (in 2015) was to install a meshed wifi infrastructure (aka Freifunk) to distribute the internet over the compound. Since then we have upgraded the Internet connectivity each year a little.
Q: Who is organizing / how to contact?
A: This event is brought to you by the foundation 42 e.V. wth the support of the Pirates without Borders. The person in charge is Gregory Engels, you can contact him by emailing to Gregory dot Engels at piratenpartei–hessen dot de, or call him at +49 / 172 853 44 91 (also on whatsapp, signal, telegram, wire, threema, etc)
Q: I would like to offer a workshop / seminar / yoga / body painting / grouphugs /…
A: Please do. Get in touch and we will be happy to discuss your ideas.
Q: I dont really have the money for this event, but its sounds so cool... Is there a social ticket? A: Please get in touch, we might find some way.
Q: How do one get to Piotrowice Nyskie, Poland?
A: By plane with Ryanair or Wizzair to Wroclaw, then a 1 hour drive. Or Katowice (2 hours), Krakow (3 hours), Poznan (3 hours), Prague (3 hours), Berlin (4 hours), Vienna or Bratislava (5 hours).
By bus or Train to Nysa, then Otmuchow, or taxi from Nysa to Piotrowice Nyskie
By car: the A4 motorway, take the Nysa exit. Nysa, then Otmuchow, then Sliwice, then bear right towards Piotrowice Nyskie (5 km south of Otmuchow)
We probably will be able to organize a pickup opportunity in case you are coming with train or plane.
