Twilight Hatha Yoga by the River | South Perth Foreshore | Wednesday, 08. January 2020

Join Melissa for this friendly, fun 60 minute class and tune into your body as a form of exercise, mindfulness or midweek connection with nature and others. This class is a more in-depth teaching of Hatha for those looking for a milder intermediate practice, or to find intensity from other practices of Hatha, if you are a regular to the Sunday Ashtanga classes and want to try different asanas and add format variation to your practice. The format of class usually follows attunement, kriya (cleansing breathwork), pawanmuktasana (warm-up/ energy liberation), sun salutations, closed and open hip asanas, balancing postures and gentle inversions, mat-based postures, parasympathetic nervous system activation / surrender, pranayama and Shavasana. When appropriate, we may conclude the class with meditation or short Yoga Nidra to integrate the physical experience into the sensory control abilities of the mind. The class is about repolarising your practice and use of Yoga as a tool of your own personal inquiry. If that doesn't mean anything to you or you are foreign to yoga then just know that the session facilitates a safe space for you to make fun shapes, explore and love your body, whilst getting an overwhelming experience of physical relaxation by the end of it.This class is not confined to a lineage of yoga, par se, and follows the gentle, alignment based approach to exploring a wide range of asanas as well as old and new yogic practices.Bringing your own mat or towel is encouraged, but don't let that prevent you from coming as we have a good amount of spare mats, blankets and blocks should you need them.See you at your mat :)
