  • Master percussionist Luke Brooks will be coming to Redfern to bless us with his inspired hand drumming. You are in for a treat, Luke is the most "feeling" musician I know...combined with the acclaimed Brendan Kerin on Yidaki we are all in for a magical night.
  • Embedded in a complex web of interconnected relationships, the yidaki is part of an extended network comprising the humans and Spirit Beings belonging to Yolngu country, its sacred topography and environment, the Yolngu kinship system and the Yolngu Matha language. The yidaki is thus connected to Yolngu Law and ceremony - song, dance, visual art and narrative.
  • So looking forward to this! Just reposting this video with professional audio replacing my Iphone 6 audio from the facebook live :) https://www.facebook.com/suntaramusic/videos/865393856932214/
  • Luke Brooks .. special guest supporting Suntara once again. He is a percussionist and drummer, with a passion for music of all varieties, and his passion and skill are clear through his soulful and dynamic drumming and didgeridoo playing. Luke's intuitive accompaniment forms a blissful blend to this evening with Suntara .. come experience it for yourself.
  • Not only is Brendan Kerin a talented artist, but a accomplished Yidaki player performing for over twenty years both in educational settings and festivals. He passionately works with Aboriginal youth in culture and performance. As a yidaki (didgeridoo) player Brendan brings to life Dreamtime stories and native animals. He gives a full interpretation of the yidaki, songs and the complexity of playing. Brendan is a recognized and respected yidaki player amongst both non Aboriginal and Aboriginal communities. He has performed with both local artists James Morrison and Tommy Emmanuel and international artists such as The Fugees, Lauryn Hill. Yidaki Didj & Dance and Descendance are just a few dance troupes that Brendan has performed with here and around the world. Everyday Brendan lives and breathes his traditions and culture.
