UNSW Disability Confident Training for Welcoming People with Disability - 4 December | Morven Brown | Wednesday, 04. December 2019

Workplace Diversity has organised a Disability Confident Training for Welcoming People with Disability at the UNSW Kensington campus to provide frontline staff (security and reception staff) with a solid foundation of knowledge to be disability aware in the workplace.
The training assists participants with an understanding of accessibility and inclusion to facilitate an inclusive and welcoming environment for staff, students, external customers and visitors to the University.
By the completion of training, participants will:

Understand how to support customers with disability
Understand the importance of disability confidence for individuals and the whole organisation
Have greater awareness of what disability is in the Australian society
Be confident in using the right language and doing the right things
Understand the value of inclusive behaviours and attitudes
Understand the key concepts, such as workplace adjustments, essential requirements and sharing information
Understand disclosure of disability from both employees and employers perspective
Have awareness of the legislative requirements and considerations to the management of risk
Know where to find further information and assistance.

The session will be run by the Australian Network on Disability, a peak body that supports organisations to advance the inclusion of people with disability in all aspects of business. AND’s vision is to create a disability confident Australia.
