Social and Emotional Growth for Gifted and Twice Exceptional Students: A Talk for Professionals at FlexSchool
We invite you to join us on Tuesday, January 29, at 11:00 am, to learn more about the social/emotional needs of gifted and twice exceptional students (both gifted and with a learning issue) -- and the unique challenges in working with this population.
Tom DeTrolio, MSW, M.Ed, FlexSchool's Director of Social Emotional Growth, will talk about his experience with gifted and 2e learners, and ways to adapt or develop Social/Emotional Learning programs for their needs. Tom will share suggestions and an approach using acceptance and normalization of behaviors, which is working very well for FlexSchool students. Students learn how to claim ownership over their learning and develop ways to harness their creativity and passion. Tom will also explain FlexSchool’s proprietary Social Emotional Growth program.
We will meet at FlexSchool Rockville's temporary campus in Tenleytown, at 4750 Wisconsin Avenue Northwest in DC. Lunch will be served.
FlexSchool Rockville is a new private school for gifted and twice-exceptional students, where we work to remove these barriers to learning and give students the freedom to thrive. We meet each student where they are and work with them to create the best possible learning journey for their success.
We know you are busy, so we plan to focus on professional development that will benefit you in your practice. We hope you can join us.
