Boomerang Bags Sewing Workshop | Flourish Australia | Tuesday, 29. August 2017

Creating sustainable alternatives to plastic bags for the Illawarra and hang with the hippest crew of inexperienced (and experienced) sewers you'll ever meet.

When: Every Tuesday, 5:30pm-7:30pm
Where: Flourish Australia, 3 Station Street Wollongong. Please enter via back door (glass doors), through car park off Burelli Street.
How to get there: Train – Wollongong station (2 minute walk); Free shuttle bus (55A/55C) –Bus stop Piccadilly shops, Princes Hwy, Crown Street (2 minute walk); Car - street parking available (Free after 6pm)
Who and what to bring: All community members are welcome. You don’t need to bring anything, however, if you’d like to bring along your own equipment (sewing machine) that’s fine, the more we can sew!!!

We take donations of recycled fabric to make bags that will be placed in shopping centres, community markets, the University of Wollongong, and basically anywhere that will take them, to encourage people to stop and think about their decision to use plastic bags when shopping.

Volunteers don't necessarily need to sew, tasks are broken down into ironing, cutting fabric, stamping logos, delivering bags, collecting fabric donations and of course spreading the word!

Message us here for more info, otherwise come and hang with us some time and sew for sustainability.
